J-1500 CD Spectrometer

Description and Applications

The JASCO J-1500 Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectrometer performs measurements on the differential absorption spectra between left- and right-hand circularly polarized light in the range of 163-950 nm. CD spectra are commonly used as markers for conformational character in chiral molecules, including proteins and DNAs.

This instrument is equipped with a six-position sample holder with thermoelectric temperature control in the range of -30º C to 130º C (MPTC-511). The sample holder accepts 10 mm, 1 mm and sandwich-style thin quartz cuvettes with solutions. Output channels include CD, LD, absorbance and HT. This instrument was donated by the Department of Microbiology-Immunology, Feinberg School of Medicine.
