- Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery
PhD (2011), Northwestern University
MD (2013), Northwestern University
Dr. Gibly is a fellowship-trained and board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeon-scientist with an academic background in biomedical engineering. His clinical interests include trauma, fractures and their complications, limb deformities (leg length and alignment differences), congenital limb differences, clubfoot, hip dysplasia, and other general pediatric orthopaedic issues. His clinical research projects include clubfoot outcomes and better ways to image and manage pediatric musculoskeletal infections.
Gibly’s laboratory research involves finding new ways to heal musculoskeletal tissues using regenerative and tissue engineering technologies, the impact of electronic cigarette vaping on bone healing and metabolism, and the genetics of pediatric fracture healing. The lab uses both in vitro and in vivo models, including models designed to investigate age and sex-related differences. Gibly has ongoing research collaborations with the Hsu and Stupp laboratories at CRN.
